Long Range Short: The compact LR/ONE

C.G. Haenel is expanding its LR/ONE precision rifle range to include a short version / New for all: 10-shot magazine / Additional 6.5 Creedmoor calibre
Long-range shooting is becoming increasingly popular. Typically, the medium range is up to 800 metres. C.G. Haenel has launched its successful LR/ONE model as a ‘Short’ variant precisely for this purpose. With a short barrel, folding buttstock and in .308 calibre, it is perfect for precision shooting from a short barrel. The rifle is very handy – and remains so even when the specially developed new Haenel compact silencer is mounted.
For many shooters, handiness and a small pack size are important features of a rifle – especially if you also go travelling with your rifle from time to time. The LR/ONE Short travels inconspicuously with you to competitions, to the next operation or to your local shooting range.
On site, the ‘Short’ is quickly ready to fire: the new hinged butt plate is opened and locked. The cheek rest and butt plate cap can be adjusted to suit the needs of the shooter – the component has proven itself in the standard LR/ONE and the CR series. Between the rifle and the shoulder piece is the backlash-free folding mechanism that swings to the left, with a grippy push button and safety pin. When folded, the rifle is only 72 cm long, and when unfolded, between 89 and 97 cm – a range determined by the length-adjustable shoulder rest.
New: LR/ONE Short signature suppressor
A M15x1 muzzle thread, protected by a sleeve, is cut at the muzzle of the 19-millimetre-thick barrel. Together with the Swiss specialists at B&T, Haenel has developed a short signature silencer to match. The priority here was on handling – in other words, a short design. The short silencer for the short rifle reduces the muzzle blast by 29 dB. The aluminium silencer weighs 400 grams and is suitable for medium calibres (.30). The silencer saves about 65 mm overall length due to the overbarrel design; it is 170 mm long with a diameter of 50 mm. The total length of the rifle with silencer is 102 to a maximum of 110 mm (adjustable shoulder rest).

New: 6.5 Creedmoor calibre – for the long LR/ONE
The 6.5 Creedmoor calibre has established itself as a versatile and powerful calibre for long-range shooting. It is now offered for the standard version of the LR/ONE. Its ballistic properties, coupled with the availability of a wide range of loads, make this calibre a prime choice for competition shooters and professional use. Compared to other popular long-range calibres such as the .308 Winchester, the 6.5 Creedmoor offers a number of advantages: it has a flatter trajectory, achieves a higher muzzle velocity, is less susceptible to wind drift and scores with less recoil. Effective shooting beyond 1,000 metres is thus possible with the LR/ONE.
