The Jaeger TEN now comes in a wood-stocked class of its own

In the entry-level bolt-action segment, the current generation of the Jaeger TEN stands for uncompromising robustness and a clear focus on practical hunting needs. And what does practice demand? A wooden stock, too. So it is “back to the woods” even in this high-volume segment of bolt-action rifles. The existing synthetic-stock Jaeger TEN Composite is therefore joined by a sister model: the “Jaeger TEN Classic”. It is a hunting rifle of classic design – right down to the cut of its stock.

In keeping with the intended use of this rifle, it features a robust entry-grade wooden stock that can take plenty of punishment – and whose marks and scars will later tell its owner stories of days spent hunting. The buttstock has a straight profile, transferring recoil forces in a linear and controllable manner. The walnut features laser-cut chequering on the fore-end and pistol grip, providing a secure hold in all weather conditions. And then there is the tactile experience itself: the organic material, the transitions between steel and wood, the German cheekpiece, the elegant schnabel fore-end and the transition from buttstock to recoil pad combine to offer an appealing level of craftsmanship and feel at this price point.

Jaeger TEN – a classic interpretation

Technically, apart from the wooden stock, the Jaeger TEN Classic is identical to the Jaeger TEN Composite. Its three-lug bolt with a 60-degree opening angle enables fast, direct cycling. The two-position safety acts on the trigger sear and allows the rifle to be opened while the safety is engaged. For repeatable mounting of optical sights, the rifle features a Picatinny rail machined directly into the receiver. The cold-hammer-forged precision barrel (Made in Suhl, Germany) has an M15x1 muzzle thread with thread protector, allowing a sound moderator to be fitted. The specification is completed by a crisp single-stage trigger with a pull weight of around 1, 000 grams and a detachable 4+1-round magazine.
